Professor Cheng Yawen is an Academic Committee Member of the Pangoal Institutiton and the Head of the Department of Comparative Politics at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs of Shanghai International Studies University. He once served in the Department of War Theory and Strategic Research of Academy of Military Sciences PLA China, and was invited to be the Special Research Fellow of Institute of International Affairs of Renmin University and Part-time Research Fellow of Center for Non-Traditional Security and Peaceful Development Studies of Zhejiang University. He was also one of the major person who participated in the establishment of the Academic Board of Non-Governmental Fund Committee, which helped promoting the holding of “The First Political Forum on International Energy” and other activities. His research interests are: comparative politics and national strategic ability, geopolitics, population and politics, and international relations in East Asia. 


He is author of the monographs Towards a Regular Era (Peking University Press, 2005), Strategic Ability of a Major Country (Wenhui Publishing House, 2016), Born to Lead: the Making of a Country as the New Leader (Qunyan Publishing House, co-author, 2016), etc.
