November 9, 2017: The Pangoal Institution Successfully Held "Roundtable Discussion on Northeast Asian Issues and Think Tank Exchanges between China and the ROK"

On November 9th, Dean of Hanyang University, policy adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the ROK MOON HEUNGHO, and unification policy coordinator of the ROK PARK HYEONGIL, visited the Pangoal Institution and started comprehensive and in-depth discussions with think tanks on such topics as the situation in Northeast Asia and exchanges of think tanks.

 

Senior Fellow of the Pangoal Institution and Associate Director, the Pangoal Institution Northeast Asian Studies Center Yue Li hosted the forum. Director Yue Li first conveyed the president of the Pangoal Institution Yi Peng’s welcome to ROK guests, saying that the Pangoal Institution has been actively promoting the academic and non-governmental exchanges between China and ROK. Director Yue Li believes that today's exchange will yield important results and contribute to the peace and stability in Northeast Asia. Subsequently research fellow of the Pangoal Institution Wang Yue introduced development of the Pangoal Institution and its untiring efforts in non-governmental diplomacy, especially in promoting the relations between China and ROK and the stability of the situation in Northeast Asia.

 

Dean of Hanyang University MOON HEUNGHO expressed his thanks to the Pangoal Institution. MOON HEUNGHO pointed out that the report of the 19th National Congress of the CPC made it clear that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. Therefore, under such a new historical background, this new discussion on the issue of Northeast Asia between China and ROK is of great significance. It will have a positive impact on the situation in Northeast Asia.

 

The participants then exchanged in depth about the issue of Northeast Asia, the think tanks of China and ROK and civil diplomacy, and exchanged their opinions fully. The guests from both sides discussed the current situation in the region from the aspects of economy, environment and humanities and exchanged many constructive suggestions on how to promote regional peace and stability in the future. The guests maintained a positive and optimistic attitude toward the future of China-ROK relations and unanimously expressed the hope that they will contribute to the peace and stability in Northeast Asia through cooperation and exchange.
