December 6, 2017:Former President of Serbia Boris Tadic Visits the Pangoal Institution and Appointed as Senior Advisor·the Pangoal Institution

In the morning of December 6th, 2017, The president of the Pangoal Institution Yi Peng held conversation with Former Serbian President Boris Tadic. The two parties had in-depth discussion on the topics of the Belt and Road Initiative, the economic and trade cooperation between China and central-and-east European countries, Russia-Europe relations, China-US relations, Brexit issues, the situation in the Northeastern Asia and etc.



The visit to the Pangoal headquarter has been the third time meeting between Mr.Tadic and President Yi. Last June, President Yi and Mr.Tadic jointly attended “The Role of China in International Relations: Belt and Road Initiative High-level Forum, which was co-organized by the Pangoal Institution, School of International Relations, Peking University and Nizami Ganjavi International Center. On December 4th, President Yi held friendly and in-depth discussion with Mr.Tadic about the future cooperation between the Pangoal Institution and Nizami Ganjavi International Center.

During this meeting, Mr.Tadic fully affirmed the significance of Chinese Belt and Road Initiative, and he also bears great confidence in the prospect of the cooperation in the economic and trade field between the two parties. President Yi introduced the development and future plans of the Pangoal Institution in detail to Mr.Tadic, and he hopes that the two parties can proceed together and make contribution to exchanges between China and Serbia in the fields of politics, economy & trade and culture. The two parties had reached consensus on a series of subjects, including the diplomatic practice by the non-governmental think tanks, as well as the China-Serbia relations.



By the end of the discussion, Mr.Tadic visited the office of the Pangoal Institution and had a cordial chat with the staff here. He highly affirmed the importance of the intellectual products of the Pangoal Institution.



President Yi awarded an appointment letter of Senior Advisor at Pangoal Institution to Mr.Tadic, who showed great willingness to contribute to the future development of the Pangoal Institution and the multi-dimensional cooperation between China and Serbia. Currently, Mr.Tadic serves as a board member at many well-known institutions, and maintains lasting friendship with the former leaders of European countries, including the Senior Advisor of the Pangoal Institution Romano Prodi, who is also the former president of the European Commission as well as the former Prime Minister of Italy. Mr.Tadic believes that as with the ongoing enhancement of the social impact of Chinese think tanks, there will be more and more scholars with breadth of vision and resources joining in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, making greater contributions to the development of China and the world.



Introduction to Boris Tadic:



2004-2012

Boris Tadic served as the President of Serbia for 8 years, during which he navigated his country through Montenegro's independence and Kosovo Incident, from which he emerged as a man of rich political experience. Mr.Tadic has visited China for multiple times—he met with the then Chinses president Hu in 2005, 2008 and 2009, and signed the Joint Statement on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership between China and Serbia in August 2009, signaling that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries has entered a new era. Besides, Mr.Tadic also had several meetings with the then Chairman Wu of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the then Premier Wen of the State Council.
