Recently, at the 2018 Summer Davos Forum held in Tianjin, the National Information Center released the “The Belt and Road” Large Data Report 2018. This is the third consecutive year that the National Information Center launched the “The Belt and Road” Big Data Report 2016 in 2016. It launched a comprehensive annual report that reflects the progress and effectiveness of the “The Belt and Road” construction using large data technology. Ning Jizhe, Deputy Director of the Leading Group Office of “the Belt and Road” construction work, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Director of the National Bureau of Statistics attended the conference and delivered a speech. The Pangoal Institution was promoted to the second place in the most influential social think tank. A number of senior advisors and academic committee members were selected as 30 influential think tank experts in public channels.

The “Belt and Road” think tank impact index evaluates the progress of construction of think tanks which relate the “The Belt and Road”and its social impact from the perspective of think tank research, focusing on research results, communication platforms, and social concerns. The assessment found that the national think tank is the main force of the "The Belt and Road" research, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the China Institute of International Studies, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Information Center, the China Macroeconomic Research Institute ranked in the top five, China Tourism Research Institute, China E-Commerce Research Center was first selected for the top ten. Social media is becoming a new channel for the “Belt and Road” think tank communication. WeChat platform and foreign language websites have obvious effects on enhancing the influence of think tanks.

In addition, using big data analysis technology, evaluating comprehensively the number of publications, downloads, citations and influence of the Internet in the “Belt and Road” related research of the experts, this report selected 30 influential think tank experts. The experts on the list include He Yafei, Senior Advisor of the Pangoal Institution; Zhang Yunling, Senior Advisor of the Pangoal Institution; Lin Minwang, Zhao Lei, Liang Haiming, Chu Yin, and Zhai Kun, Academy Committee members.

“The Belt and Road” Large Data Report 2018 was guided by the Office of the Leading Group for Promoting the Construction of the “Belt and Road”, compiled by “The Belt and Road” Big Data Center of the National Information Center and published by the Commercial Press. The report seeks to highlight three characteristics: First, using data to speak, using text clustering, sentiment analysis, social network analysis and other methods, analysis more than 50 billion pieces of data including dozens of online public opinion, trade, investment, tourism, cross-border e-commerce, etc. Data sources. Second, comprehensive coverage, covering 71 "Belt and Road" countries, 31 domestic provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities, more than 1,000 think tanks, more than 2,400 media. Third, Indexed evaluation, focusing on six major indexes, including the “The Belt and Road” country cooperation degree, provincial and municipal participation, investment environment index, digital silk road smoothness, media attention, think tank influence. And investment environment index and the Silk Road digital smoothness index were first released in China.
