Increasing by 18 Places in a Year! The Pangoal Institution Ranked 39th in the Asian Big Countries Think Tanks List of 2018 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report

On January 31, 2019, the most authoritative global think tank ranking–the 2018 Global Go to Think Tank Index Report, published by the University of Pennsylvania's Think Tank Research Project (TTCSP) in more than 100 cities.  In this report, the Pangoal Institution was ranked 39th in the Asian Big Countries Think Tanks List of 2018 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report.  Compared with its rank in the last year, Pangoal’s rank rose by 18 places higher than that of the last year and ranked 11th amongst China's think tanks.

 

The 2018 Global Go to Think Tank Index Report is the authoritative report of the TNCSP of the University of Pennsylvania, led by Professor James G. McGann, for 12th consecutive year for the comprehensive evaluation of global think tanks, marking the importance of the project to national think tanks and continued concerns about contributions and a deep understanding of the global trend of think tanks emerging around the world.  The report has been published once a year since 2007.  It has established an objective and impartial research system.  Through the comprehensive ranking of global think tanks every year, the role of think tanks in the world in the government and society has been studied, and the path of global think tank development has been drawn to bridge the gap between society and government.  Therefore, TTCSP is also hailed as the “think tank of the think tank”, and its global think tank ranking has become the most influential think tank ranking system in the world because of its rigorousness and fairness.

 

In the recently released The 2018 Global Go to Think Tank Index Report, the Pangoal Institution stands out from more than 2,000 think tanks of Asian powers (China, India, Japan, South Korea) and ranks 39th in the Asia's Big Countries Think Tank List, compared with 2017. It rose 18 places during the year and ranked 11th among the Chinese think tanks selected for the list.

 

The Pangoal Institution, established as a representative of the Chinese social think tank, was established in 2013.  The Pangoal Institution focuses on international relations, innovation, the regional and industrial development, macroeconomics and finance, and actively carries out civil diplomacy practice to serves the national policy.  Today, the Pangoal Institution has brought together more than 300 prestigious and well-known individuals from home and abroad to serve as senior consultants, academic committee members and researchers.  In addition, the Pangoal Institution, as the main sponsor, advocated the establishment of a Global Governance Think Tank Network consisting of more than 50 leading think tanks in China, the United States, Germany, Italy, India, South Korea, Singapore, Canada, etc., greatly improving the speaking right of Chinese think tanks in global governance.  At the same time, the Pangoal Institution also held more than 350 high-level international forums including “the Pangoal Institution–Korea East Asia Foundation China-Korea Strategic Dialogue,”covering topics such as global governance, the Belt and Road Initiative, innovation-driven, macroeconomics and finance, G20, Hot issues such as the BRICS mechanism.  Many former political figures and ambassadors from all over the world have visited the Pangoal Institution.  In just five years, the Pangoal Institution has achieved excellent results in a series of think tanks at home and abroad, and is one of the few think tanks that have been rising year after year.

 

Previously, the Pangoal Institution ranked third in the "China's Most Influential Social Think Tank List”in the "China Think Tank Influence Report (2018)" jointly published by the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Literature Institute's Chengdu Document and Information Center.  A few social think tanks on the list that have been ranked in the past few years.  In the “The Belt and Road Initiative(OBOR)” Big Data Report 2018 published by the National Information Center in Tianjin at the Tatworth Forum in Summer 2018, the Pangoal Institution was ranked second in the most influential social think tanks.

 

The Pangoal Institution was awarded the The 2018 Global Go to Think Tank Index Report, 39th on the list of Asian Big Country Think Tanks and 11th on China's Think Tanks.  It once again illustrates the affirmation of the results of the Pangoal Institution by the world's authoritative think tank evaluation institutions, reflecting the Pangoal Institution’s essentiality in China and around the world.  In the future, the Pangoal Institution will continue to use its own advantages and global influence to actively explore public diplomacy, fulfill its mission and obligations, and contribute to the overall development of China in the new era.
